I was in a hurry, bit tired, after all the day work in the lab and had decided to go to for shopping all those items which we have decided to gift to uncle , aunty and Ananya. Could not find time to grab a bite in the afternoon, and Amit , too was hungry. So, we were just giving a cursory look, little unsure what to buy or rather should we buy with our stomachs begging for some fuel so that we can survive after our shopping spree. Fed up with my habit of looking in other shop, but still smiling, Amit was concerned whether I could walk this much. Novice in buying pearls, but still giving it a try, looking for some thing nice but whatever the salesman will show, we will turn it down, “ Oh, not that kind”. Finally , we were on the way back, in the busy street of Parklane , I was startled by the view which the flashy and everbusy road , always crowded by people presented to me. Sitting on one side of road , was this little boy , somewhere around 7-8 years of age, with his toddler sister sleeping in his lap, the boy was trying to put her to sleep , but himself was so tired and sleepy , that every 2-3 second he was also sleeping. The noise of traffic and moving crowd, waking the baby every now and then, thus wasting his effort, but again he would start this pampering , and same routine followed.
We were moved with this pathetic sight , We put some money near this boy and moved on, but that sight was still bothering me. The amount which we left , might fetch them a single meal, but after that? Could we not help them monetarily little bit extra? The thought of this little bit extra led me to the Budget, needs, my priorities. Some selfishness has definitely creeped in me which stopped me from going back and giving them some extra. We discussed and argued about this petty sum which we left and whether it will be of any significance .Then , we decided to stop tipping the waiters at these eating joints and posh hotels, yeah, it means the strange looks on their faces, a little arrogance in their behavior , but we will keep this money with us. This 10% -15% tipping protocol which we were generally following was increasing the waiter’s pocket weight by some 300-400 p.m. We have decided to keep this money aside and try to help kids like them with this meager amount.
"Charo aur hai phaila vaibhav,
sadak kinare sisakta shaishav
kahin hai shakti sampannta ki pyas,
kahin do joon roti ki aas.
dekh thithakna,aur fir chalna,
kya chand sikke sanvar payenge unka jeevan
ek ke karne se kya kuch hoga,
yahi soch hum samjha lete apna man.
kyon na hum kare jo thoda bahut bas mein hai tere mere,
ek ek kiran mili to , la payenge inke jeevan mein naye savere."
I understand a person alone can not make the difference, but let us do our share .
