Good Bye Pluto!

"Mercury , Venus, Earth, Mars,Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune , Pluto". A typical answer of even a 4th grade student if anyone asks him/her to tell the name of planets.This is what we have read and taught. But not any more.Pluto has been dethroned from planet status.



In a recent development about the definition of planet at Prague , Pluto has lost its place as a planet.Jay Pasachoff of Williams College in Williamstown, Massachussets opined "I think that today can go down as the day we lost Pluto."
It is now included in a family of "Dwarf planets" including Ceres, Charon, Xena and plutoand thusand other smaller solar system bodies according to committee appointed by International Astronomical Union.The decision found grounds from tiny size and tilted orbit.
